depends on the profile of cams and I can tell you 264's are definately notable espeically at 5k revs and at idle

a had a mantzel inlet,dbilas,intake,4 branch,de cat, full stainless and got 144bhp,put cams and dbilas pulleys on and got 145bhp they dont benefit much at all because the engine is already such a high compression that the valves are so close to the pistons so you cant get the proper adjustment you need.mines had a very poor pick up but kept power all the way to the limiter.wouldnt recommend cams imo.

yeah, i mean a standard ECU as far as the sensor setup goes.

you cant run piper/kent verniers with a standard sensor setup, as it has a cam sensor.

the Dbilas Verniers have the bits to work with the cam sensor :)

well standard ECU meaning a totally standard ? Cos it's goin to have been chipped (not a 10p resistor from ebay) a datek (i think) with raised limiter ... Will still be able to get these verniers to work with that ECU ?

Dbilas Verniers do, they are the ONLY ones which will work with the standard ECU/Sensor set up

well worth it, you can do a lot with a little of adjustment

Ye i know, it's jus i was sooo close on puttin cams into my gsi...and alos was biddin on some vernier's .. but then got told that there are no verniers to fit the x16xe ! ? Dunno lol

I never went this far with tunning my x14xe but if i did i would do verniers as they make it easier to set up due to timing marks etc and they are shit loads lighter than standard pulleys :)

you have a decnt inlet and its a shame you spanked that money on the airflow thingy maaa jiggy as that would of paid for the headwork rob mentioned.

If i had a 1.6 and wasnt going down the tb rout i would have this spec:

Lexmaul inlet
Kent 264 cams
Vernier pulleys
flowed and ported head
uprated valve springs and caps (as head would be off anyway)
ARP rod bolts
Drilled air box
fll stainless steel echaust and decat
janspeed exhuaust manifold
lightend flywheel and uprated clutch

Then either look into a unichip of best of all aftermarket management as the inlet benefits from a higher rev limit

most of what I have listed above can be done quite cheaply if you keep an eye on both the classified here and on MIGweb :)

Dbilas Vernier pullies, so you can keep the standard ECU, cams, decat and get the ECU chipped and mapped (wont be cheap, but will be worth it, but only do it when you've got EVERYTHING on, or it'll need doing again)

then some headwork and you should see 145-150bhp :)

how much is a remap? is dblias software a chip or re map?

jazzer2k3

I got dbilas inlet, magnex exhaust inc de-cat ... dont want cams cos ur car wont benefit from them unless u get proper verniers . . . .

Im gettin a remap with a raised limiter - (Corsa GSi) But atm its fast enough :)

decat, manifold, cams, induction, then a remap

MY de-cat made no difference to sound, but i do still have the middle box.

iv got a dblias air flow kit on the way (like a viper) the de cat made the car toooo loud, which might be a problem with a manifold?do they make the exzorst note alot louder?

de-cat, some form of ram air like a viper, manifold, remap..

SAL
