ok im going to try cheapest option first, which is a new lambda sensor!!

but im having trouble finding the 3 wire sensor i need!!
even from vauxhall they said the new 1 wire sensor replaces the old 3 wire sensor!???

can anyone confirm this? and that if this 1 wire sensor will work fine??

My XE was using a litre of oil a week, but it only seem to burn heavy when i gave it stick. So i think it was piston rings but not 110%.

Still passed on emissions though as a 1992 engine.

I'd say it would need to be burning oil in a major way to fail IMO.

what you guys reckon i should try to cure the high emmisions??

this is what i got in mind of what i could do in order...
1- if i can find a friendly MOT tester :look:
2- change lamda/o2 sensor
3- change CAT
4- either fix it or do the conversion now!!
:boggle:

that is exactly what i'm doing with my gsi

i need to get it on the road but has no mot, failed on emissions, and now i just paid £380 to get it through its MOT. if the guy turns round and says its failed again, it must be a fucked engine, i'll go fuckin mad :!:mad:

make me laugh, cars fail on this, then buses drive past and old coaches anf u cant even see the back of it.

yeah thats what i was thinking!
i would not say its REALLY bad, when driving and i floor it, some smoke may come out exhaus for few seconds and thats it, or if i rev high, like past 4-5k then their will be some smoke???, it does not smoke at idle or if revving upto about 2-3k revs

would need to be burning oil really badly to fail mot

MoNkEy MaGiC

posted on 13th Jul 06 at 18:40

he quoted me around £600 for all new seals and rings and valve guides etc!

but the only thing is, it was just as bad at last years MOT when it failed on emmisions too!
and what i did then was replace the CAT and lambda/o2 sensor and it passed fine??:boggle:

new seals and rings
depending what has gone

the Gsi failed again on emmisions after using a inlet cleaner and cleaning the lambda sensor!!!!:(

the thing i need to know, is my mechanic pulling my leg... he said because your car is burning/leaking a lot of oil it is effecting the emmisions, and the mot are more strict now, so a rebuild is only way to get around it and then pass MOT!!!!!

but i think its just my lambda/o2 sensor is fooked again, even though i replaced it last year, but because car is running rich and all the oil burn smoke has clogged it up again, should i try a new sensor???

what you guys think??
MOT runs out in 2 days!!!!! :(
