I could have it bead blasted with a combination of glass and wallnut shells which would take the paint off but not the fibreglass. Though that would cost a lot. I just want it to look slightly tidy, not as tidy as that Corsa above. I don't think I could afford to get the car to that level. I think Jr clean will suffice.

I know it's the front :( i was hoping i had a pic of the backs but i don't....

Can't you totally strip your car to just a shell and then have it dipped in acid or something along those lines? or sand blasted all over... i'm sure there's been discussion of this before

edit: found that thread from before (see it here ) I suggested acid dipping it then but u said no as it'd take the underseal off  but seems you now fancy that....

edit again: thinking about it  haven't you got a lot of filler/fibreglass on the car so it can't be dipped? Would sandblasting be able to remove it?

Yes, but less chrome and more powder coating...

Thats the front, it has no underseal on it so thats not a problem, the rears are all rubbery and covered in Waxoyl.....

I want the arches like that red Corsa with the tanned Carisma interior. It's all lovely, smooth and painted in the arches...

think ur crazy trying to take it off. its there for a reason. plus on the fuel cap side wot u gonna do where u cant get it off rite up inside neck??? ur gonna be left with a big edge. if u really need it off u need an mbx wheel. kinda like an air powered wire brush. with take it off in mins. id would recomment u do it the way i did mine n just stonechip over the very clean n keyed underseal n paint over the stonechip...

I might even try burning it off with my oxy acetylene :o

Freeze it with a fire extinguisher and then whack the panel from behind with a leather mallet. The worst of it should crack and chip and fall off.

Na, I want to paint on some Hammerite Stone chip on which is smooth so I can wax inside the arches. For some reason :o Meh, it's gonna be a trailer queen so why not

May as well put the time in, I thought it would take a while :(

I think white spirit will slowly dissolve it but its very labour intensive.

Probably wire brushing with a drill is your best bet. Can you not just clean it really well, respray the underseal on and paint over that?

Right, the plan for my car is to not only remove all the paint for a bare metal special but also remove the underseal in the rear arches too. This is so the arches can be painted up the same colour as the body. The fronts aren't a problem as they don't have any underseal in them...

Right, so can anyone best advise me on how to get the under seal off? Will it peel off if I start to scrape it, or will it need to be taken off with a wire brush attatchment?

P.S. I don't care if you think this is a bad idea. I know what I'm doing.
