id do it properly, rip out the standard loom, keep all the sensor plugs, rip out the r1 loom, keep the injector and tps plugs, then make a new loom from the ecu to the engine bay soldering the rescued connectors to the new fresh loom. the megasquirt ecu will have a guide for the loom surely in the manual

amen

Next on this list is to find a good head worker... (no pun intented)

Actually, we're setting it up on a basic map just to get it to JamSport. I need to save for that though as that is mega expense :!

I've been waiting for the Ecu for over 7 weeks! As soon as I get it I'll have a look in the manual. Glad some one has shed light on it all. Thanks Guys ;)

if the megasquirt ecu matches the GM loom plug, then yes that sounds about right to me. You may be provided with a plug and wiring diagram, from which you wire up your own loom

Am I over looking something simple?

Currently the set up will be:

Megasquirt ECU (Mtech unit)
Yamaha R1 Tb's (not Carbs!)

Won't I need to splice the R1 loom (bear in mind this is 02 Tb's with all the sensors) with the gm loom and then attach the Megasquirt Ecu to the gm loom?

Have I grabbed the wrong end of the wiring stick?

if its megasquirt he may need to make the loom. should only need the injector loom anyway

RobHayes

im lost, what exactly do you need to splice?
if your running aftermarket ecu, that will have its own loom (albeit one you may have to make up yourself) which runs the engine :boggle:

bring it in and we can get it going for you :)

Right... I have coming up very shortly the lovely task of trying to mate a Yamaha R1 injection loom to a Vx Corsa Gsi loom.

I have manuals for both but I'm really shite with wiring so is there any one who can offer advice or even know of a company that will be willing to link it all up correctly.

Wiring in my Megasquirt ECU will be one thing.. but a Yamaha loom :!
