my mate has had a similar problem and it turned out to be the coil tracking to earth. some of the plastic around the coil feed to the dis cap had broken away. does it only do it when its been raining?

otherwise it could be the air mass meter?

When I'm accelerating steadily I get a missfire from about 1500- 2000rpm but it doesn't do it all the time. Plus if I accelerate harshly it never does it and there is no lack of power.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I've recently changed the plugs and it still does it, is it worth doing the leads?
