idle control valve as mentioned, or a vacuum leak which is only apparent when engine is warm.

also check the coolant temp sensor, only about £12 from vaux for a new one, pish to replace!

rite the problem i have is,engine runs fine and normal untill, normally when he starts the engine and leaves it for a few mins, the idleling is just over 1tho revs then drops down to 1tho,like a choke kind of thing, this is when the problem is happening, when the engine is about to drop after the warmup period it increases the revs and keeps going up and then drops down to 15000rpm then increases again. what could cause this?

its connected to the throttle body, right hand side of the engine near the battery, you need to remove the upper inlet manifold to get to it properly to remove it

wheres the icv on a gsi??

sounds most likely like the ICV is sticky or there is a vacuum leam somewhere which is only apparent when warm.

carb cleaner on the ICV to clean it, as for vacuum check, listen for hissing or whistling when running...
