I did used to get the odd fault code come up when i had a mantzel fitted (usually bouncing off the 7800rpm limiter) but 98% of the time the light stayed off. So it is possible to do

had new plugs about 500miles ago and the ones before were normal colour, all the throttle body is clean etc cause we cleaned it when we cleaned the ICV for the first time, must be either TPS or ICV its gotta BE !!!! :(

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve

always happens with mantzel setups (mostly when u boot it)

but the ecu doesn't go in 'get u home' mode from it.. so this was my sollution for it

think the revcounter says enough about the engine spec :P

EGR is expensive

try taking it of, and cleaning or blanking it off (search here) if u blank off just 1 hole of the 2 it thinks it still works and doesn't get dirty or stuck anymore

hmm yes, the one i have at the moment looks like the one on the right and the one i have spare ive cleaned up looks like the one on the left, but the one on the right still doesnt look very filthy to me :boggle: oh well ill fit this one and if it doesnt sort it ill go buy a TPS, its had a new EGR, new Crank sensor, new cts, new map sensor so far

Only other symptoms are sometimes coming down the revs when the engine is doing the brakeing it will just roll and the engine will stop brakeing and then it will cut back in again and start engine brakeing again if that makes any sense at all.

the ICV and TPS are the main parts :)

tps cant be cleaned, but shouldn't get dirty either

icv is the most dirty one of them all

this is a pict of an icv that's been in the car for 3 month's and a cleaned one

Ok well its had, new crank sensor, new EGR valve, new Map sensor, and im going to go and fit another ICV tonight after ive cleaned it first

Whilst im there is it possible to clean the throttle postion sensor does anyone know ?

Also where is the Air temp sensor on a x16xe , is it the bit that goes into the inlet pipe.

practically every sensor and component on the engine affect idle.

air temp sensor
idle control valve
throttle posision sensor
crank sensor
cam sensor
map sensor
egr system

thats just the basics:rolleyes:
