Paperclip test doesn't work on some engines. I know it doesn't work on my 1.2 16v engine.

I dont always take it Vauxhall, I know a mechanic that has his own diagnostic equipment so that makes it alot cheaper.

I wouldn't even waste your money at Vauxhall getting it diagnosed. They'll charge you between £35 and £50 for just that. Best bet is to carry out the "paperclip" test. Very handy and has saved me loads. Can do it on your drive and takes minutes. Visit this link...

Hope that helps.

Mine used to do it quite regularly. Had crankshaft sensor, AFM, ICV, o2 sensor in the past for other problems and it stopped it from doing the spluttering as often but my car still sometimes does it...

Right, after driving to work this morning, my car is deffo running on three cylinders, but only when my foot it to the floor.

This might give someone an idea what it is.

Dude when my AFM was playing up - i unpluged it and the car seemed to run right as rain. I got one off Wrightys SXi tho which fixed it in the long run.

When that EM light comes on its like finding out your cars got cancer. Just get it to Vaux and analysed - it will save you so much money in the long run.

Just been out to it again, feels like is misfiring under high revs, checked all plugs and they seem ok. Bastard car.

let the engine get warm and look to see if the cat is glowing.

Ahh someone help me, my car goes about as fast as a milk float and sounds like a WW2 Bomber. Could it be the cat? EML comes on when cold aswell.

my 1.0 sometimes did this. It would just bog down as if it was going to stall, but when i came off the gas and then went back on, it was fine......no idea what the problem was though, but the em light never came on.

When I accelerate quite hard, my car seems to bog down quite a bit and feels like its struggling. Also the exhaust seems alot louder, and when its bogging down the exhausts sounds like its coughing.

Any ideas whats up?
