I don't have one of them so I can't help you there :( At a guess it will be 6mm or 8mm.

Another question,

The bracket that connects the exhaust to the back of the block to keep it stable (before the lambar sensor), does anyone know the size of the bolt and nut I need?

my engine is from a non cat gsi and i am only using that manifold and the pipe from it all the rest of the system i took apart as after where the cat should be there was a silence so taking that away makes it to short too fit my scorpian system, so just measured up the gap cut some pipe of the rest of the cav system and welded it too the end of manifold and pipe and connected it too the corsa system :)

The center section is about 1.8" or so, I said the down pipe ;)

no way does a 1.2 8v have a 2 inch bore centre section????? i cut and shut mine onto the 1400 sri system. iut struggled to rev up properly and didnt do much more than the 1400 did flat out. got jolly old powerflow to make a 2 inch system to match manifold bore size for £200. bargain. revs better and pulles better. ive hit limiter in every gear, except reverse

I am going to attatch mine to the Corsa system. I noticed that the 1.2 8v system in the same bore as the manifold. So I have cut out a section of the down pipe which is straight, the attatched it to the center silencer. I am going to mate the manifold to the center section with some flex pipe so that it can all wobble about. Believe me, these engines do move forwards and back a lot!

i did mine by butchering it when it was on the car lined it up( it never did sit right tho) when it was on the car tacked it up with little stich welds and took it off and welded her up but then again 2 months later i took it to the local exhaust specailists and they put on a sleeve fitting for me which is alot better than the set up i had at the time,

id say as long as u do it properly and weld i properly go for the home made way!!

tis great and everything but I've got most/all of the system already, in the future i'll be okay with spunking another £400~ on the XE but would like to get it running first!

mine is cut from 6-8" from the lambda sensor. got an extra bit made up to mate to the centre.

thing i have heard is that if you dontt have a cat you may mot need the lambda sensor. and you can ground out a pin on the ecu. but dont quote me on that.

Mistamist

you could cut off the end flangg and weld a pipe between the centre section and manifold.

might be an idea to get the male part of a flange with the springs, bolts and gasget and weld a pipe after it so that it allows a bit of movement.

i had the same problem mate, cut and shut, and jobs a good un (i think) :o

see along that straightish bit, where the sensor is, chop some off from there, i didnt do mine so dont know how much came off.

hia

I currently have a Cav GSI 4-2-1 (i think) exhaust system to use on my XE Corsa, I've also bought a cat back exhaust system for the corsa which will be part of it all.

I was told by a wise man (Lee) that the Cav exhaust will need to be cut somewhere so I can join it to the other part of the system properly, can anyone mark out where abouts I have to slice the fucker with my angle grinder?

btw - I have no cat :look:
