thats the main point is - it shoudl be cheap parts should be readily available; and insurance is key - cause i'm only keeping it another year - if I can get it all done for less than £400-£500 I'll probably do it in September

2) be a selling point - instead of a high mileage 1.2 8v
3) be a bit of fun for the year I'm intending on keeping the car
4) still be ridiculously cheap for me to insure

yeah i suppose when ya look at them points it might be worth it...

it will be a hell of a difference from the 1.28v!

and its an easy job... use the 1.2 8v mounts on the puppy, and lose any PAS it may have though

should have rephrased that better... the body mounts might be different but the mounts on the engine and gearbox are the same:thumbs:

on the passenger side front gearbox mount my mates 1.2 is different to my gsi and sri 16v ones so just use the gearbox mount off the car

engine/loom/gearbox/ecu/afm...

use yer 1.2 8v drivers side mount... the other 2 mounts are the same on both cars...

the engine mount driver side and front gearbox mount are different. i assume they will bolt up with your old mounts. if so, quite simple id say. ask sri-co. he put my old 1400 16v into his 8v

Before some1 says - do a 1.6 16v or xe conversion

only considering it because the engine is relatively cheap, my 1.2 8v is due to 110 000 in the next week or so, and Im sick of having no power at all - dont want to make mine a quick car - just to get something a bit better and easier to drive for the next 12 months

would a 1.4 16v engine conversion be - from a current 1.2 8V

What would I need, are the mounts different etc - I'm pretty handy with a spanner but never taken an engine out - will I be okay doing it in a weekend with my dad?
