ok, so when i picked up the car from syubbsy last thursday we noticed it had a mad oil leak, no big deal, probably just a rocker gasket, shouldn't be to hard to replace.............................FAMOUS LAST WORDS.

first off i poped into see my mate at regal autosport and asked how much it would be to replace the gasket. he said i was looking at around £20 for the gasket and £45 to fit so £65 in total.

i went to halfords, got the gasket for £4, yes £4, and fitted it with my mate.

how hard are C16XE engines to work on? my mates got a 2.5 V6 vectra and said he'd rather work on his than mine!!we had to take off the dis pack, take off radiator water holder, and then un-bolt the top black air intake manifold from the throttle body before we could take the head off and replace the rocker gasket.

we took off the head pulled out the spark leads, only to notice that they were caked in oil, the whole hole was full of oil, that would explain the misfire then!!!

was such a mission, started at 7:30 and finished at 10:15! then started her up, oil was mildly still spitting out of the same place, was so anoyed.

but it seems fine now, replaced the leads and plugs with bosch super 4 plugs and leads. and drives wel, might need a new dis pack though, anyone got a rough price on one?

Mart.
