actually this isnt quite true. Thicker wire does mean that aslong as you have the correct power flowing through it, otherwise you will actually loose power if you arnt making full use of it. There is a scientific reason to all of this, but like fook if im gonna remember it  (however do a search, someone posted it a while ago :))

in a few weeks and about £30 for the lot + post, it was an expensive kit and has a lot of good parts in.

its i think 5m of blue 4 awg, 1 m silver 4 awg, 1 fused splitter, 1 non fused splitter, and a few other bits..

ill see exactly when i pull it out, but its not been in long and im only changing as i want 0awg.

Aye it does have another pre-out.

When / how much u lookin for ur wires?

AdiSRI

u can run the phono out, but if your hu has the preouts u may as well just run more RCAs down.

And yes 4 gauge to a fused distribution block, then 8 gauge to each amp. same with the earth. I will be selling a full kit that has all the wire and blocks needed to wire this.

So I run 4 gauge from the battery, then split it at a distribution block in the boot? What gauge wires do I have coming from the dist block?

Then stick 4 gauge in for the earth wire.

My VP4 amp has output phono sockets aswell, can I just use these and run it to my other amp as input?

I know I wont have seperate control of front / rear from the headunit but that is no big deal.

Sorry for all the questions mate!

no £30 from halfords will be 8 gauge, i wouldnt run anything off an 8 gauge....

Some one ran 2 amps off an 8 gauge wire, it got so hot it melted the plastivc and set the car on fire... Get some bigger stuff.

ill be selling my old directed 4 gauge with fuse boxs etc.. soon.

and no u dont need a cap, upgrade the big 3 wires, then batt, then alternator if u need to.

I will be running 2x 1000w JBL 12" subs, 2x sets of JBL 6x9s, 400w door components.t with 2x 1000w dragon 4ch amps. running through an equilizer.
Ive ripped out back seats to do an install but ive had my hand in a cast for a month. plus im in no rush i cannot even drive yet i've just turned 17

The wiring I have in at the minute is 350-400w RMS, 700w Max (or something around that) That was for my last amp + subs.

The new stuff im puttin in, a Vibe VP4 which will be runnin at 750w RMS and then hopefully a Vibe VP2 runnin at 200w RMS. I take it Im gonna hafta get upgraded power + earth cables put in? What is the effect of runnin my new ICE on this cable?

How do I go about wiring the 2 amps in?

Thanks

I was thinkin of a Vibe VP2 (2 * 100w RMS) to do the job for mine.

What comps u got Adi?

AdiSRI

posted on 9th Dec 04 at 11:52

my comps are rated 75 w RMS a side, and i run them off a 2 x 200w RMS amp sounds great.

But remember the gain knob isnt a volume control, its purely used to match the amp to the voltage given out by your hu pre outs.

Cheers Dom, just wanted to make sure.
Thats gonna be loud cuz they r only gettin 27w RMS from the headunit @ the mo and it doesnt sound bad :)

per channel lad

so you will want an amp about 150wRMS, maybe 200wRMS if you comps can handle a bit extra - but you will cut the gains abit, to allow for overhead etc :)

My component speakers are 120w RMS on the box.

I take it this is per channel or is it the combined ie 60w RMS each side?

Just wana know cuz I'm lookin for an amp.

Cheers
