DOnt drill holes in the cam cover dude, take the cover off and lookinside, there will be a plate screwed to the underside of the cam cover, drill holes in this so oil that gets above it can drain off and pressure dosnt build up

I have been looking this up for you, drilling lots of holes in the cam cover inner section stops oil surging behind it when cornering and into the breathers which go to the throttle body/inlet manifold and get burnt, this driling also releases pressure build up in the cam cover and prevents the kangerroing ya get, you can also do the modification i explained with the plate to help even more

Cheers for the help. It does kangeroo down the rev range, which i thought was the cams. Guess not so then.

The breather mod should stop the surge of oil into the throttle body and stop the kangarooing on the coast down the rev range.

nah ya make a c shaped piece of metal which bolt up to the cam cover breathers, it prevents any oil sloshing about in the head gettin up in the breathers, i will try find a pick

If you mean the swiss chease to the breather bit in the rocker cover that's to cure the kangeroo'ing I though??

Like J1400 said its oil surge oil inthe head gets into the breather system and causes smoke as it gets into the inlet and is burned, there is a simple mod you can do on the cam cover to prevent this, do a search on migweb for it

not too hard mostly when accelerating off round abouts from bout half way round. I was thinkin it may be oil stayin in the top end of the engine. I hope the engine isnt fooked, wouldnt suprise me though it is from an astra gte, gettin pretty old know.

If it were valve stem seals then it would be burnig oil all the time... But really, you gotta be driving seriously hard for it to burn oil when cornering :o

White smoke is oil (guess it does have a blue/grey tint to it), white steam is condensation. The 8v sump will go straight on, as the blocks are the same - i'm not sure what 8v sump should be used because there are several variations onf the 2.0 8v engine, and I would think they are all the same, but not 100%...

Try driving sensibly perhaps? But then that would be white smoke (oil)
