sounds like a fuse, when you short the + and - in theory, you draw the maximum current your battery can deliver as there is no resistance

right...Yesterday i was addin a Volt reader but by accident the positive and negative touched and spark and since then my cd player is no longer working. My Dash lights on ignition dont come one. Petrol and temp gauge dont work. Revs works when drivin but when idle it doesnt. Also my battery light stays on when Driving.

Does anyone know what it can be? ive checked my fuses in the fuse box an disconnecting the battery

cheers
