The paper clip test is a method to see the fault code of the engine management without haveing to take the car to a vauxhall dealer ;)

If it's the icv, u can have it cleaned, maybe this will help, orelse u'll have to change it:|

It sounds like an ICV to me (idle control valve).
Do the paper clip test and see what it comes out, but i t will probably be this...

i got a 1.2 16v ecotech.. the engine management lite now cum on sumtimes, and at idle the revs go high, like 1500 revs.. i give it a wee blip and it goes back to normal, and light goes off./.. ne1 no what might be causeing this... plz guys.. help urgently needed
