beg to differ there joff, top one looks like an X16XE
bottom a C16XE

little hint
look on the top of the clutch cover, engine type should be stamped on it, you will probably have to clean it with your finger firt, and look very closely as it is hard to see, but its there

X16XE - Ecotec written on the plastic cover and the cast aluminium inlet manifold.

C16XE - Vauxhall on the plastic cover and the inlet manifold is plastic (or plastic coated).

could some post pictures or a standard c16xe and x16xe in a corsa!im unsure what engine is in mine, its a sport so should be a x16xe but i was lookin at a 1.2 16v,which i thought should look identical being a small block 16v ecotec but it wasnt, there was alot more room about the engine bay1
then i was looking threw an old total vauxhall magazine and seen the corsigra(corsa with a tigra front end) and the engine in it was a c16xe and it looked identical to my engine,so im wondering had my car had an engine conversion sometime before i bought it!
my car has no ecotec cover over the spark plug leads either, although ti could just have been misplaced before i got the car!
any help to tell the difference would be appreciated,i need to change the timing belt and tensioners but cant until i know what engine i have(where the engine number is its too rusty to read)
