mine got so bad after a while that i cudnt get 1st at all without ramming the gear stick across the gear box to break thru the gate type thing u described, its not actually blocked, its just the excess movement in the ball joints thats causing it not to move as it shud into gears properly

i also cudnt get 2nd after it got so bad and regulary set off in 3rd when i thought it was 1st, making the clutch stink :o

but it sounds like the same prob as mine that u've got.

mine did this, it was the gear linkage. or the name they gave was the top guide control or summat like that lol

had to order the full lot coz the ball joints had worn so much coz the middle bit is plastic (stupid design by vauxhall)

the part was about £80 n i paid £30 for it fitting at a local garage.

i did have the part number somewhere.

the new part is all metal so it shudnt wear as quick

are u still moving when u try to change down>? mine does this.

mine does this, stopped after a service so maybe the guy tightend something, was fine for a few months but went back to how it was now, i just got used to it

I've been having a bit of a problem changing down into 1st recently which at times can be a reet toe hassle. I don't get this problem when changing into first from neutral, just when going down from higher gears – don’t go in at all as if it was blocked somehow.

I'm guessing it's down to the gear linkage.. although tbh I haven't got a clue just making assumptions :lol:

Car isn't 3 year's old yet so a trip down to Vauxhall should have the problem sorted (fingers crossed)
