Think ya have used the wrong short nova cable mate, ya need the 1987 model short cable, there is a difference of about 3" or so in the 2 cables... hope this helps...

i've probably made that up tbh.
i was under the impression that the cable was clamped at the braking end to set the rough length before it gets adjusted on the winder?
may be well off the mark.

does the cable not pull through the clamp at the brake end? or does it go straight to the threaded bit?

i have just fitted rear disks to my corsa they work fine but i am having abit of trouble with the handbrake i have used a nova short hanbrake cable and corsa long one. The hanbrake works but you have to pull it up 10 clicks for it to work and i cant adjust it anymore because it has already been adjusted as far as it can. So what i would like to know is that do you others with rear discs have this problem or have i used the wrong handbrake cables.
Cheers andy
