Work out your RMS in watts, then work out how many amps you need from the battary for the ICE, then get a battarey from Halfords that has an ampage just higher than what you need, then you could also do with an uprated alternator, then you might be able to make use of a power cap. Also, upgrade the wires from the batt to the earth point and to the alternator e.t.c... so that you get most efficient use of the new equipment... :)

they are wired in parrallel to the battery.

personally i'd say stay away from them. they have very little effect on dimming lights and if you have a current hungry system then they discharge way to quick! No-one in spl competitions uses them.
