simple job.
put car in reverse
lift the gator and align the two holes with each other by putting a drill bit through, then go to the engine bay and press the yellow button in fully (ontop of gear box near clutch cable) then get under the car to where the selector rod conects to the linkage slacken the linkage on the rod and tighten making sure no parts of the linkage is under stress.

Check the linkage, it could be bent not to difficult to change.
Will mean getting under the car and having a look.

it's going into the body shop for repair.
i would of thought it will be on a jig to sort it!
do you think it would relign itself or do you think realignment will still be needed?
is adjusting the linkage a hard job at all?
thanks paulw/guys

if its doin that, soudns more like the engine & box has shifted across so knocking the alignment out.
you can re-align it 'possibly' but means adjusting the linkage to the box itself (in the engine bay), there is really nothing under the gator which can be adjusted
If you can afford it, get it checked on a jig - I know I would!

1.4 Ecotech engine.
as i bumped me car the other week, when i take my car out of reverse slowly the lift up reverse pops out but is still in reverse, i have to pop it out quickly for it to go into 1st.
is this a simple case of removing the gear gaitor and adjusting or is it a linkage problem?
cheers.
