they are metal tabs, you just use a screwdriver to push em out. they wont break

ah excellent, cheers mate. How far do the tabs go out, are they easy to break?

Take the player out, take the mounting cage off the player, put the mounting cage in the hole, push out the tabs all around, then put the player in the mounting cage.

Ah i see, so do i get the cage off the player and leave it off then put the headunit in the hole with the cage off? How will i push the tabs out if the player is in the hole tho, i won't be able to reach it?

When you take the headunit out of the box, you should slide the cage off, put that in the hole and push the tabs out. Then you push the headunit in and it should click into place.

The black rubber thing is for the firewall, it should be screwed to the back of the unit.

Both of those things you said i can't remember doing so i guess that must be it. The metal clips your talking about, all i can see that i have left are 2 metal plates that are long but i thought they were for getting the cd player out with? And i have one big black screw, some little pole type thing with a screw in the end and a black rubber holder of some sort. Am i missing something? The "DIN Cage" is the cage around the player isn't it? Ill have to look which tabs to push out

Thanks

With sony headunits there should be two metal clips that need to be screwed onto either side of the unit. Also when you first install it, did you put the DIN cage in and push all the tabs out?

Heya

Well i finally had the courage to install the cd player myself coz halfords are such rip offs (btw im totally new to cars so please be gentle :) ) Well i installed the plastic facia type thing that fills the hole where the orignal player was. I connected it all up and sloted the cd player in, all fine and dandy till after a few mins, the player like pops out a little and bends upwards. It can be easily pulled out with my fingers when this happens, i try to put it back in but its like theres nothing to support it underneth so that it stays straight. Shouldn't it slot and click in place or something coz i don't fancy the thing flying out if i hit the brakes hard. Its a sony xplod cd player and came with a sponge type thing with a sticky side, is that some that i need to put on??

Thanks :)
