Cos cars rattle about when you put mega bass speakers in... Dynamta is sound proofing which absorbs all the noise you get, so you only get the sounds you want. SPL is all about making the lodest system, you need loadsa soundproofing for that otherwise your car could fall apart...

quote: Its actually called 'Marley tape'(brand name available in other names) its a bitimum based product to help stop roof leaks- I have used this before and must say it is the stickiest ba**ard ever it is simple to apply coz u just cut a wack and stick it then go over it alll again, I done my whole corsa B for around £120 for 3 layers everywhere, then £30 for the roof - I was weary of it but it really does a good job, I was going for SPL so you should be able to use less than this if needed.

Just bought Dynamat boot kit for my B. There is 20sq ft of the stuff!! Should have plenty enough to do the boot. Dont know whether to do the boot twice or do somewhere else like the doors?

It's a good recommendation that when you're using Soundproofing to make sure you put on at least 2 layers.

I've used all sort of soundproofing and in my own car I've got Dynamat Original, Xtreme, Brown Bread and Ivanhoe. And I've learnt the following..
