i had this, what it is is a ohm impedence and high volume, turned out i has a stray strand of wire from one of my front speakers, check all bare parts of wiring

only try the rear speakers on there own, to see if its anything to do with either set, with interfernce and so on

relocate ground and turn down bass controls ect on head unit

You have too much gain on your amps. Turn the power down on the amps cos most have built in protection to stop you over powering the speaker and killing them.
The way to get the speakers to the right level is to turn on a CD which as a good range of treble, middle and bass put the volume up to about 2 thirds of its power and adjust the gain on the amps so that there is no crackling from the speakers and it shouds the way you like. Then do some fine adjustments to make sure that the sound coming out sounds nice (i.e. not too much bass/mid/treb).

ok my stereo plays ok until i turn it up. all my speakers are amplified if this makes a difference. when i turn it up a bit, the music cuts out but the cd keeps playing, any ideas?
