What u on aboot? Rule always has been:

Earth off first, on last.
And Visibleman, why 4 gauge? Alot of small power amps only require 8 gauge and wont accept 4 gauge at its terminal, which would mean you would have to get a distribuition block.

usually, alot of amps these days will accept 4gauge, fair enough there are still a few that dont and maily on the smaller ones, but the point i was getting was to run as big as gauge cable from battery, mainly to protect you in the future - so wack 4 gauge in and you will be alright in the future, if you want to get a bigger amp/sub/more amps etc system. And tbh, it wouldnt hurt if he had to get a dissy block, keep things nice and tidy

basically, connect the amp to the battery, using 4gauge cable, then connect it to ground (rear seat belts are pretty good, again use 4gauge). Then run a RCA cable from your HU preout (make sure its the right one if you have a number of them) to the amp. Then get some NEW, decent quality speaker cable, go from amp to 6x9s. Simple mate :)

so connect old standard speaker wire from old speakers to amp, then wire up new speakers to amp, the RCA to the h/unit, the power to battery?
