They WILL pass the car m8, when they take a readin of the emissions they should know and if they are in any doubt tell them to check the engine number, sounds like a dodgy MOT tester that told you this to me m8.

well if they are proper MOT testers, they'd all say what me n big eck said. if they tell you different then they didnt listen when they did their city n guilds repair and servicing level 3

My car came with a CAT but when the engine was installed it didnt have a cat, mine pass its mot no probs, as said b4 if the engine came out of a car that didnt require a cat then you wont need one and it will pass the mot.

no im not a tester, but i do know if the engine was built with no catalitic converter it cant fail for having no cat, any half intelligent MOT tester would know this

if the engine came with no cat you wont fail the MOT, however if the engine had a cat previously and was taken off, thats when it would fail

Hi there.

Just done my conversion to the 2.0L 16v
The engine i have put in didnt have a cat on the donor car but my L reg corsa did origanally.
Does anyone know alot about the ins and outs of the MOT?
Will my car have to have a cat testor will i get away with it because my donor car didnt have one?
Ive been told yes i do need cat and no i dont.
Is there anyone out there who knows for sure or who as come across this prob on their conversion?

Cheers guys.:boggle:
