since installing windows 2000 everytime i go on the internet i get an error come up. it says the file svchost.exe has caused an error. it stops me clicking on links which open in new windows, printing from IE etc. anyone know what it is and how to cure it?

Hmmn, difficult to say as svchost.exe is a system process and runs several times usually.

If you haven't done so already, I'd try installing the latest Service Pack (SP4) and Internet Explorer 6 SP1

is a virus. the msbalster one. download fix from symantec website and then the security patch from microsoft.

yup...its a virus...only attacks win 2k and xp. get the VRP from symantec.

i cured it, just did windows update, installed all microsofts security fixes and its fine now. cheers guys
