Yes, it does have a turbo on it, also running a mantzel box.

The turbo is hidden down the front of the engine on the exhaust manifold. Any more pics daimo?

You can also see that he has water injection.

Whats the rest of the spec?

Aye, not great though.

That engine at the time, mods were

1.6 16v (X16XE).
T2 (or 25) turbo
Mantzel box
Ind kit
Exhaust

thats it, but then thats about £4k+ worth of engine.

A standard turbo'd 1.6 16v will give between 150-160bhp. + the M box etc, say 170/180bhp. But 0-60 was only mid 7's. The actuator was getting stuck on the day. But it got the limiter in 5th (F13 box) pretty quickly, and was nice and smooth.

Luke actually bought the engine off the shelf from Courtney for £3k. Which is a damn good buy considering the turbo conversion alone costs £3000+ (was £2800, but they keep putting it up). Not seen Luke since PVS this year, but prob will catch up with him. He wanted some more bodywork done b4 he started on the engine again.
(PS, yes, thats on a standard management system, and running..
.
.
.
.
.

14psi boost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mad fucker!!!. Most turbo corsas will run aroudn 6-7psi).

£4k worth of engine = £1.5k parts......

The courtenay turbo conversions are so expensive for what they are. You could do it properly for that money.

For that price you could get a 2.0 turbo fitted

Id rather ahve the LET too.

Throttle bodies are the way to go with the 1.6 16v lumps.

Still not seena supercharged one though. That would be interesting

By properly I mean proper management, proper pistons, intercooler etc.....

Im sure these engines would be execellent turbo'd (I nearly did it) but no engine will work well if bodged.

But it looks identical! We don't have access to those Velos tubes, so I've got no idea what they look like, and yes, I can see the throttle now that you point it out. My mistake, but to me, that looked like quads. There's no turbo on that engine (on the red car). Never said there was. Said if you WANTED to turbo an engine with quads, that'd be the style of set-up you'd need.

That's mine, the red one.
Still only one throttle body but was designed to take a turbo which velos should have developed soon.
Ive sold the plenum now to a lad with a 1.4 16V and am busy putting his standard inlet manifold on mine.
Personally id go for throttle boddies cos there so god darn loud!
Or throw a 2.0l turbo in.
I was gonna turbo mine but in the end got bored with the car.
Got a smart car now cos its got a turbo running 12psi, still to chip it to up the boost!
May get a nova / kit car next year running either throttle boddies or a 2.0l turbo, until then my race ECU + loom is sitting in my room in wait!

There's no major advantage to having throttle boddies and a turbo.
It has been done before by someone on migweb but i think they ended up putting a velos plenum style inlet on in the end instead of the throttle boddies.
May give a few bhp over the mantzel box but would cost at least £1000 extra.

A dump valve will only make a noise with a turbo and you'll get beaten by those with throttle boddies + cams (if you get the 150bhp courtenay turbo kit).

I've been out in both a 1.6 16v TB Corsa and 1.6 16v Turbod car. TB are FARRRR much better.

Turbo was very smooth, and picked up to the F13 6620rpm limiter very well (117mph). You got a slight ptissshhh on gear change, but nothing like a proper turboed car

Throttle bodies are the way to go on a 1.6 16v engine

214 BHP from a 1.6 16v corsa engine?
So what else you done to it?

SBD do have a 242bhp 1.6 16v, it might actually be more now. I imagin to get over 200bhp its well flat low down and not much of a road car.

yes its around 250bhp miles, as soon as 6kRPM is reached though, with a 9k redline its gonna drive so fast it will make your eyes bleed.

Daimo, why the hell is that Turbo Corsa running an F13 gearbox and not F15???

Luke bought the engine off the shelf from courtney and couldn't be bothered fitting the bigger box at the time. He had a 1.4 8v SRi enigne in before so just used that gearbox.

As for Andys 214nhp, check the other post aobut 1.6 16v Throttle bodies. He's had a litttttle bit more than just the TB put on. Theres £5k-£6k engine there.
