it will look good but u will loose some acceleration,IMO ud be better gettin some 15's an lowerin it loads! wood look good, handle better than 17s an acceleration would not be effected as it would with 17s

my car is pretty fast as it is, so wudnt mind loosing a bit of acceleration, plus im gonna get the mantzel powerbox too so that shud increase power and acceleration, ive always wanted 17" as at moment i got 14" and on my last car had 13"

i reckon lowering my car 50mm on 17" will look good

but cheers for advice mate

how much bigger are 17" 205/40 compared to 14" 185/60 ???

185/60 r14s are 466.6mmdiameter
205/40 r17s are 513.8mmdiameter
but the circumfurance will be bigger also
17s=1613mm
14s=1465mm

i fink the above is correct! but u also have to take into account the extra weight of the alloy which make a noicabble diff if i remember a level physics!

you will definately notice it, i got a set of 15's on my car tried a set of 17's on got half way down the road and hated it Definately saps acceleration mate. There is no point doing mantzel box and other mods if your just goin to ruin it with big wheels. Jus my 2p worth

woah! and you drive a 2litre!! is it that noticable?

hhhhhmmm i dunno will be while before i get some alloys though so im just gathering some info.

but i undertstnd what your saying that the rims will jus balance out the extra power from the inlet manifold!!

hows about if i go for 16" would their be a big diff then??
what if got ET45 wud that make a diff???

offset woodnt make that much diff really, but stick as close to 49 as poss. 16s woont be as bad but 15s are the best for handeling and acceleration, get some light weight 15s wood go well with the inlet then! other wise ur just wasting the money, 17s make a noticable diff, as does puttin 15s on, made a diff in handelin on my car

i was originally considering getting the "1000 miglia Actions" in a anthracite finish, but now im not sure what size to go for

are these alloys heavy??

wen u say it will look good wat do u mean by it? coz i want both front n rear arches to actually go over and cover a few cm of the tyres

so say if i go for 16" 195/45 will i get this affect and how low can i go? im thinking like bout 60mm??

coil overs are worth it but way out my price range!!

if 60mm is too much and handling will get worse then ive seen a 50mm koni kit but the Gsi are 15mm lower anyway so if i was to get a 60mm kit for any standard corsa then it will only actually lower it by 45mm which on 15" or 16" i dont think will be low enough!! ??

Him8,
I have a 1.6 sport and I had 14's then 16's then 17's and never really noticed the difference..
I have just put 16's back on and I feel the car drives alot better but don't really notice the acceleration difference...

Think you onlr really notice diff on smaller engine cars..But Deffo drives better on my 16's now..

hey,

when it came to putting 17"s on my 1.6 Sport, i hardly noticed any difference to be honest. had the shitty vauxhall 15"s on to begin with then added a set of 17" wolfrace enigma's. i cant tell that much but hey, maybe its just me. but matey, do what you want when it come to modding ya motor, after all, there isnt that many places now that you can openly speed on so you might as well go for looks. your car will look sweet as fook on 17"s with a 60mm drop
