I fitted an Apex -60mm suspension kit compromising of shocks and springs in june and my car visibly sits lower on the passneger side than the drivers side. When i look under the rear wheel arch i can see that the spring is more compressed than it is on the drivers side.

Anyone have any ideas why??

I get a problem with my 60mm lowering kit sometimes. Gmax sprins and Pi shocks.

What causes it is that when the car is jacked up the springs drop slightly and dont sit properly when its droped back down.

I get the problem in the front so when I drop the jack down I have to do it slowly and guide the spring into the right place so it hits the rubber at the top of the strut properly.

It could be an idea though to take you car to somewhere like Kwik Fit they may be able to tell you whats up with the suspension, shouldnt charge you to tell you either so you just go home and fix it.

is it on perfectly flat ground?
have you got some monster sub on one side of the boot?

if not then a spring may ahve collapsed

UPDATE:

My passenger side suspension has pretty much caved in. There is no bounce or anything. What the fuck is going on?

Ah ok. Yup, good point though - perhaps swap the sides over, just to check that it's nothing daft causing it?

I'm gonna go to a garage on saturday. See what they think could be wrong. Hopefully it's nothing too expensive.

Down 60mm their tends not be be any bounce. 99% of Corsa's will ride into the bumpstops that low giving a very hard ride! Makarus you need shorter shox if you have to do that when you drop your car after jacking. Mine slightly leans to passenger side. Has done with all my suspension set-ups. Doesnt cause me any problems, I think its the arches that are slightly different each side?

My cars lowered 60mm on G-max springs and sit lower on the passenger side.
apparently its because the left side shocks get more abuse than the right due them being loaded round roundabouts and cos of bumps where the drains are in the roads ect......
this means the shock gets shagged out and sags.
on the 16's it only rubs slighty on the back left but is fine on the right.

Mine is a Corsa C down 30mm on Eibach springs and it is a tiny bit lower on the passenger side. Only if you look really hard though.

Mr Modded corsa, a DODGY rear shock CANNOT affect how low the rear of the car will sit, you are talking poop. Dampers condition does not affect ride height in ANY way. Trust me, ive had more suspension set-ups on my corsa than most, and I know ALL about fitting them... Oh and its NORMAL for coils of rear springs to touch when lowered.

Yeah Tomas is right, the shock doesn't affect ride height, the spring does that, if the shock is shagged then the spring should still keep the correct ride height just not be a comfy ride at all.

Tomas - I am getting new shocks soon anyway, Koni Yellow adjustables. I always thought the shocks were too long but saying that as long as I line it up properly when dropping it back down then I have no problems. It only does it at the front obviously.

Yeah mate, on my 60mm spax psx setup i had on the front, the spring never unseated even when jacked up, i had to use coil compressors on them when fitting too. What bumpstops you using with the Koni's?

You could not be more wrong. My passenger side front damper was soooooooo fucked the piston rod had gone into itself and the bumbstop had left the piston rod and mounted the actually shock unit. Now i have 4 new dampers and guess what......................................i have solved my problem. I'll even post pics up of the damper to show u how it CAN affect ride height. Also neither of my rear spring coils are touching each other. If this happened i'd be very concernered as it would mean i had no bounce or spring. My rear passneger side was only lower due to the shift of weight onto the front passenger side.

Anyway problem solved
