twin rotor (in one block like two pistons) 1.3 Wankel rotary engine, 2.6 is just the equivalent of a 4 cylinder engine.
constantly rotating engine parts, no up/down movements as with normal engine so its smooooooth and it revs very high

One of the finest engines ever made. Not many parts, but due to not being mass produced is expensive and the engine requires a re-build at around 70,000miles or KM, can't remember which. Its also quite juicy, but, the design of the engine is fantastic.

So much so Mazda have just won the best engine of the year award for re-developing the wankel lump for the RX-8.

Superb engines

yup daimo, they won that for their renesis rx8 engine.
superb smooth simple engines, only problem is have to take whole engine out and whole engine apart just to replace the seals if they break! that's why it's expensive to fix as it's a full rebuild around that time!

Mercedes, + many many other manufacturers tried making this engine when first designed but none seemed to be able to keep it going like mazda have!

there is no such thing as a 2.6 rotary engine, that would be a 4 rotor engine, i believe these are in development by racers etc.. who are building them themselves. The highest out there in production is a 3 rotor engine from a cosmo, its a 20b.
