Surely JRL will benefit from exports? Is their problem over-reliance on importing the components? If only there was a UK manufacturing sector they could have given that work to...

Exports have risen but profit per car is down.
China import tax laws have stung us recently also reducing profits in China.

For example the parts I work with, the front steering knuckle assembly,
Bearing from france
Hub/drive flange from Germany (we have a uk equivalent part at £2 a part more )
Knuckle is cast, machined and assembled with the above in the chez republic.

We don't just build in the UK now, there is plants in china Brazil currently with two Europe plants going up so it doesn't make much sense to have all the parts made in the uk from a logistical or a financial view point.

JLR are trying to play with the big Germans hey are global producers so it makes sense to join that approach, especially considering the uk plants are maxed out.

Got a payrise 2 weeks ago and turned over our largest month to date since we opened 5 years ago.

Not all downhill,.....yet!
