Interesting that no one has mentioned that road tax is now being ring-fenced and being put back into the road network...

Or he's one of those nutters who manages to rack up £32k of credit card debt by not paying attention to what they're buying.

Having 4 vehicles and paying just over 1k a year in Tax isnt bad in my eyes Still too much for my liking especially when the megane has only been on the road about 7 days this year!

£505.00 for the Discovery

£180.00 for the Abarth

£265.00 for the Megane

£130.00 for the van

I'm just not bothered how much road tax I pay. It wouldn't influence my decision to buy a car, I know a car is a luxury so don't complain about the costs.

I hate paying for 6 months if I'm keeping the car for longer as you end up paying more!

Indeed. I just whack 12 months on everytime. You claim it back when you sell it anyway so the most you'll lose is a month probably.

I'd be screwed you bastard

The £20 a year road tax on my Focus was one of the factors when i was looking for a new car.

I've never understood roadtax, what pisses me off is the cost of taxing the Corsa when its on a 3000m limit insurance policy and only does around 2500m yearly, yet my Zafira does 40,000m a year and look at the difference in price!! I know they'll never take it into consideration, but the amount of time the Corsa see's the roads - which are in shit condition and always make a mess of the car - I should be paying a fraction of what I do, my insurance on the Corsa is litrally 2/3rds the cost of the tax!!

Corsa 1.6 16v £241
Zafira 1.9 CDTI £189
DS3 1.6 HDI £30

Go figure

Be careful what you wish for!

While blackbox/tracked taxation would be more 'fair' it would also mean instant speeding fines/bans and no doubt the insurance companies would all get on the band waggon!

if that stops cyclists being ran over by lunatics in a 4 wheel death machine, then so be it. i can honestly say i have no idea when the last time i ever "needed" to go faster than the speed limits of the road.
