No the deal wasn't as simple as that, they were paying 29m euros for de gea, we were going to pay x amount for navas.

Two separate deals that relied on each other

If he wants to go to RM next year then just see out the current contract as RM will give him a bumper signing on fee that would will more than make up for the extra for a few months till he goes

I guess it shows commitment so he is more likely to be given a game. If he didn't sign he could probably see him self not playing at all which would have meant no Euro 2016 for him
