Gross = pre-tax / net = post-tax

Gross is what my mortgage provider used to figure out how much I could be lended, so I go on gross pay.

It's rather depressing when you realise how much of a difference there is between net and gross though

Between 2 people that's not unrealistic, i'd imagine.

You're on similar wedge to me iirc so thats about £3300 a month for yourself, then whatever your missus earns. Mines poor and only earns about £1500 buts even so, thats almost £5k there. Obviously gross and not net.

Would be great if we got to take that home every month

Try living in Cornwall where the average wage is about £17,000 with high living costs.

You should see the amount the local government takes for my pension. I'd be rich if I wasn't planning to live past 65!

Fair play, I dont get luxuries like that in tiny dodgy companies. If thats your net wage after "savage contributions" our lives went very different ways after college

But I presume you are talking gross? I don't even know what I earn gross I just look at what I actually get

Mrs earns shit money. Wish she could be on near what I'm on, we'd be laughing. There's a couple on my firm few levels above me and they must be laughing with how much money they're bringing in

Makes sense if people are using gross. If people are using net then I'd be expecting a few super cars for the money they're earning.
