Looking good.

To be a bit pedantic, that's some god awful dry brushing on the radiator.

And you have a fingerprint in the paint on the fog lights.

Looks very much like a fingerprint on the bit that fits around the bar.

Ah yes that part is separate and won't be used like that. That bit will actually be cut off

So my box finally arrived, well actually I went to get it

Top layer nice metal parts

Second layer

Then a box inside a box

Inside that box a hard plastic shell, hand there for scale

First job is to take all the axles apart and pack with grease as they only come lightly coated

Took the axle completely apart, note the metal bearings

Reassembled, thread locking everything

Transmission unit, all metal

Opened that up and greased

Insides of the transfer box

Then onto making up the chassis

Had to make up a load of these tie bar links, rose joints

Chassis rails made up, and transmission mounted

tx box in

One of the shocks, these are quite cool because they are like coilovers, so can adjust the height

Filled up the shocks with shock oil

Rear axle made up

Front

Mounted both axles to the chassis

Driveshafts, the ONLY plastic component on this chassis!

Connected those up

Servo in

All the electrics in, fuel cell in the rear doubles up as a receiver box

First job on the shell, turn it into a van! So made up the panels out of styrene sheet and glued them in place

Final job for this evening, I purchased a resin scale fuel filler cap/unit as the one on the model isnt accurate to my vehicle and needs relocation too

Cut the incorrect one out, and stuck a piece of styrene in the gap left

Cut off the rivets around it

Filler, probably too much

Started on cutting the hole for the new one whilst that was drying

Needs a little more work but its almost there

Sanded down the one i covered at the back, feels totally smooth

Test mounted the new one, not permanently as has to be sprayed seperately

Also bought a rear handle for the back door

That's where I left it tonight

Todays update, working a bit slowly today as have had stinking cold

Cut this plate out from behind the rad, so I can run spot light wires, and mount my rad that I painted, also allows me to offset the grill a bit futher in as its a bit close to the spot lights

So talking of spot lights I mounted by A bar and spots

Then I set about the final piece of custom bodywork/cutting I needed to do, fit the afterpart rear door handle recess

located the template

Drilled 3 Holes

Cut the rest out and sanded and stuck the piece in behind, still got the handle to glue in there, but will wait until after its painted

Set about removing the moulding lines off the body, the main ones are here, the rest are quite well disguised but I did them all anyway

Bit of wet and dry later

Masked off some bits and primed the inside of the shell

Then 2 light mist coats

Followed by a couple of wet coats

Doesnt have to be amazing this area, most of it you wont see

Cut the arch liners out

Fitted the other tyres

Thats about it for today Im afraid

So two nights worth of updates in one hit here

Masked off the open areas to stop the outside paint going in

Two coats of primer

Then tonight was a quick wet and dry sand down then the top coat. First light mist coat

Second light mist

Third

Wet coat number one

Then after the second wet coat, how it stands currently, I have not bothered with the roof as that is going black

Got a reasonable amount done tonight, first up was the roof, masked off

Usual light mist coats

followed by wet coats

Job done

Painted some of the details black as they are on my 1:1 hinges etc

Made up the two headlight plastic surrounds

Drilled two holes for the 3mm sidelight LEDs

Stuck the surrounds on

Tinted the rear windows

Then set about the arches of which I have finished 2 of the 4, started off with the fine line masking tape

then normal masking tape

Sprayed up
