Just requoting myself, there are a couple of things that could have allowed him to get back out in front:

Merc fucked up, though there may be a bit of a mitigating circumstance.

The FIA information initially indicated a virtual safety car, the VSC delta is SLOWER than the real SC delta... so if they made the decision to pit Lewis based on that, he'd probably be safe.

They seemed to change their mind and bring out the real safety car, which condemned Lewis to 3rd.

The sauber didn't look to have blocked him at all. It was a complete and utter balls up by the Mercedes heirarchy and they know it, hence why Toto Wolff came straight out with the apologise x3 speech.

I do like how Lewis handled it though, so unsure why he's being labelled a cry baby.

What more can he do? He accepted his trophy. Shook Nico's hand, said we win and lose together and then said he'd put it right on the next race.

Is that not mature and adult, rather than Nico's petulance at telling Lewis to hurry up and drice faster?

Always on Lewis' case. Some people seem not to like him because he doesn't live in England, yet is an English sportsman how pathetic.

Yes crashing into the 3rd position board when he lined up before the podium celebrations was very sensible and mature, he handled himself so well. Its not the FIA or the race organisers fault, he just looked like even more of a bell sniffer than normal tbh.

I've seen loads of people do that. Yet again, because it's Lewis it's frowned upon. If that was Kimi, you'd be tonguing his cock.

Anyway 3rd is the 2nd placed loser. No one wants that, apart from Nico or Vettel it seems.

you're only jealous because whoever you seem to support isn't currently a champion.

Are you still a city fan or have you jumped ship again?

Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside seeing all the usual faces pop up after some Lewis misfortune, it must really get to them just how successful he is right now, they're going to be raging when he takes his 3rd title

Not much to say really, cant for the life of me work out the logic behind the decision to pit him. The "we were worried about Vettel" line doesnt stack up because they were never going to pit Nico so they still had a Merc between him and Lewis. Odd one, can only assume panic set in and they lost track of what they were doing. Just keep track position, thats all you need here.

Anyway, harsh on Lewis, but these things happen in racing, he took it well, said all the right things and he can take solace in the fact hes still leading the championship and he demolished his TM all weekend on one of his favourite tracks.

So Lewis binned it in FP2 after Mercedes sent them both out in very wet weather with intermediates

Far too many stupid decisions happening...

was only to do wet starts apparently as when they went out the weather had eased off but had got worse not long after they were on track bit stupid in al fairness but then no one was going to run the rest of fp2 anyway so didn't really lose out

If you count wasting a ridiculous amount of money on a front wing 'not losing out', then fair play to you
