What was the story with that?

Kvyat had been in fourth all race and doing really well. Ricciardo was in sixth on much fresher tyres after the safety car restart though, so had the best chance of getting a podium. He'd overtaken Raikkonen in fifth so the team told Kvyat to let Ricciardo through into fourth.

Ricciardo wasn't able to overtake any further cars so slowed down on the start/finish straight to let Kvyat have his fourth place back.

Very sporting of the team to do that I think, and the right decision.

FFS, washed up F1 driver commentators on SSF1 saying that "someone needs to be made a scapegoat"

Yes, it was a fuck up. Yes, it put a small dent in Hamilton's championship (which he's still going to win). Is there any need to buy into the worlds need to point this all at one single person to make them feel like shit? Jeez!

You can't seriously think it was OK for Mercedes to pit Lewis for no particular reason, without pitting Rosberg and then let Rosberg win?

Championships have been decided by single points before. Look at Lewis/Massa.

Nico Rosberg joins a very select group by winning in Monaco 3 times in a row.

It wasn't for no reason though was it. Are you stupid enough think that whoever it is who makes these decisions just sat there thought "Eerrrrm, yeah..I think I'll have Lewis in for a change he doesn't need".

I think the situation was just over thought or they had incorrect data.

Toto Wolff said straight after the race that they thought the gap Lewis had was different to what it was in reality.

The only reason they pitted him was due to the gap he created, not because he NEEDED new tyres.

Easy 1 stop in Monaco. Massive cock up and I hope Lewis comes out and blames the team, or they admit they fucked up.

I'd be seriously pissed if i was Lewis.

They already have admitted they fucked up. Was the first thing Toto Wolff said. He said he apologized on the radio and the only other thing he can do is "apologize, apologize, apologize."

I think Rosberg should let Lewis win the next 2 races to make up for the points gained.

Great result for the championship

Don't like Hamilton but have to feel for the guy. He was clearly the best driver and had it in the bag

Nico was very good I thought in post interviews

Vettel seems so happy at Ferrari - one to watch next year

Cunts.

I believe they said he asked for it but the team were in decided which led to a massive miscommunication and they went with his initial request

I don't think the team quite saw how quickly he caught the safety car

It was funny it took so long for sky and the teams to see that he was behind vettel at the second safety car line

No doubt Niki L will be further up Lewis' arsehole now. Thought Niki L should have at least recognised Nico won even if it was handed to him

Not sure Hamilton requested it. Not heard that in any of the interviews I've seen.

He did say that he thought that the others had pitted so when he was told to pit he thought OK I will do.

They just royally screwed up. The mis-judged the gap and didn't really need to cover the gap because although there was a speed difference between the tires it was not enough to overtake at the top level.

I thought Toto said that right after the race with ted

Niki said he approved the request which led to the chaos

Well at least we didn't have to see him wearing his sunglasses on the podium.

They said during the race that just after the pit stop that Hamilton on the radio said something like 'i just lost the race didn't i' which seems like he had some kind of input towards it.
