Can't argue that they deserved it. Neuer was brilliant, and has been all tournament. Schweinsteiger took a beating.

Cracking finish by Goetze

Boateng and Mascherano were outstanding for their teams

Can't believe someone wrote "Europe are dominating world football, look at how many times in recent years a European team has won the World Cup and Euros"

That is pretty stupid. However in terms of the WC, this is the first time European teams have won 3 times in a row.

Best team of the tournament won. People said Brazil played crap which they did but Germany are also clinical with their finishing and last night was evidence again. Argentina had the 3 best chances yet Germany score with a 1/4 chance.

Messi as player of the tournament was a joke. OK if he had scored the winner then yes but he didn't. He had a few bits of magic all tournament but also had games when he did virtually nothing (last night was one. 2-3 mazy runs and missed a golden chance)

He was MOTM in all of their group games, but aye he didn't deserve the Golden Ball tbh. I would've given it to Neuer. For all his madness, he is head and shoulders above the rest in world football.

A fair number of those games I wouldn't have given him MOTM either, Mascherano I think had a better tournament overall
