Early because agreements have been made.

Done deal according to talksport, carvalho agreed fee to United for 35m. Don't know a great deal about him, someone shed some light?

I'd take a stab at him being worth nowhere near £35m - Hopefully for your sakes he'll be better than the last player you got from Portugal

More speculation of Costa going to Chelsea with them dumping Torres back the other way

I wonder if the whole financial fair play will start to have any effect or be ignored completely as this year it will really start to affect things (in theory lol)

Slightly taken out of context, they are apparenlty being investigated along with 15 or so other teams. But as Des Kelly pointed out today, the thing that the owners don't get any credit at all for is that they've invested throughout the club and the local area, massive amounts in fact. £170m on a training ground etc... and that will need to be taken into account.

(Although they have lost £130m instead of the required £37.2m this term)

Costa will end up at Chelsea. As close to Drogba as you're ever likely to see.

Diego Costa lot more than he's worth.

Carvalho isn't worth 35m but he has massive potential. Not a big goal scorer but seems like a powerhouse. I haven't seen a massive amount of him but from what I've seen and read, if this news is true, it's an exciting first buy of the summer.

Is this what you base your entire football 'knowledge' on?

You do seem to like taking what they say as gospel.

Never seen Carvalho play and I can't imagine a lot of people in this country will have done either

Not even going to do my usual as its a waste of time until we know who the manager will be next season

However, we need:

Replacement GK for Fabianski assuming he leaves (prefer he stayed tbh, dont be shocked to see him go to Barca)
Replacement GK for Viviano when he returns to Italy (most likely Martinez or Iliev from U21s)

Replacement RB for Sagna assuming he leaves (hope he doesnt as too much to do this Summer)
Replacement CB for Vermaelen assuming he leaves (hope he does)
Additional CB (versatile a la Fabian Schar - RB + CB)

Top class strong DM
Pacy and versatile LW (possible replacement for Podolski if he goes, prefer he stayed and accepts a super sub role)

Top top class striker who can make goals himself and hold the ball up, bring others into play and assist ( )
Additional striker (Bendtner and Park both leaving plus we are short) - happy for this to be Joel Campbell

Outs:
Fabianski (end of contract)
Viviano (loan)
Sagna (end of contract)
Vermaelen (likely)
Djourou (supposedly done)
Miquel
Kallstrom (loan)
Coquelin
Wellington Silva ( )
Botelho ( )
JY Park (end of contract)
Bendtner (end of contract)
Afobe (end of contract)

All in a WC window which admittedly is short and expensive...

To be fair they don't normally announce stuff as done unless it really is

They need 2 keepers, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they went for Ter Stegen and Fabianski as a more experienced back-up. Suspect he'll go to Schalke though.

You guys should sign him, much better than Mignolet

Fabianski is awful.

Plays one blinder then goes off the boil and couldn't catch a cold.

oh really? so when was the last time he had a duff game then?

thats the fab of old, hes abs top quality now! ofc would need to see him over a full season but as backup at a big club or no 1 at a 2nd rate team he is and would be superb

If he was that good he wouldn't be playing second fiddle to Sczesney

he most likely wouldnt be if he werent leaving. plus szcz (across whole seaosn) has been by far and away the best keeper. taking out those 4 away perfs, we'd have best def record + most clean sheets. he couldnt do anythign to have changed those results wither

Surely if he were to leave it would be to establish himself as first choice elsewhere? I wouldn't mind him at Newcastle if Krul makes his suggested move to Juve

One would assume so but also, would you turn down relatively regular appearances and probable guarantee of trophies at Barca over playign full time for a seocnd rate club? Many dont.

Would love to see him go on and do well in the Prem tbh a la Mannone.

I think Robbos summary is not far off.

When we have our fit first team we are not far off, the problem is as soon as we don't we are screwed. Loosing Ramsey & Walcot IMO cost us this season as they were really hitting top form.

Its how you win the league. Keep your best players fit - Last year RVP, this year arguably Suarez

yep, we suffer with injuries because wenger likes to keep a small squad for unity which is fine but we have too many samey players.

not enough strenght across the board (a Lars Bender, another big strong CB and a Mario Mandzukic for example would help enormously) and we lack seriosu pace (a Draxler, a Reus or a Remy for example would mix thigns up)
