£190?! Fuuuuck! I pirated it and got rid within a week, I'd be suicidal if I paid £180 for it!

I'm getting along quite well with it now, but I'm not an intolerant ape with a native hatred of anything different.

I was just thinking, is the £190 really an upgrade price?

You can buy the full product as an OEM version for £65+ (for the standard version).

Really like windows 8 on my Dell, don't miss the start menu and all that crap at all. Laptop also boots up and shuts down pretty much instantly now.

I love seven, feel no need to upgrade, but for £25 I might just do it anyway

That was same as me.

And because my W7 wasn't legit, nice to finally have a legit copy of something.

Technically it's not legit as it's an upgrade license for a product you don't own.

Nope, the version of Windows 8 is legit, it's a completely new license.

Using the Win8Pro loophole for activation doesn't make it legit nor is it legit because it works And an upgrade license requires that you have a legit license of the software that you're upgrading from.

Me thinks you will be breaking the MSDN rules and running the OS just illegally as anyone else (ignoring the MSDN cost)

What makes you think that? Sometimes MSDN gets used legitimately

A loophole is exactly that = Win.

Until they comeback and tell me I wasn't allowed to do that I have a legit licesnce just the same as everyone else.

Well the registration requires you to agree to a handful of conditions, one being that you purchased a system within the last 2 months another being that you have a fully authenticated (with authenticity certificate) and licensed copy of Windows 7.

And that's why you Windows 8 key isn't legit.

As said, because it works doesn't make it legit

Whether or not Microsoft will come after you is another matter although there's nothing stopping them invalidating the whole range of keys given out by the exploit.

Do you really think MS would have allowed this to happen if they gave a shit?

My guess is they're just happy for the business.

It's like iTunes match /Google Play matching pirated tracks and swopping them out for 'clean' ones.

Still your license and key are invalid according to the terms you agreed to, so don't harp on that you have a legit copy when you don't

Either way, it boils down to whether or not Microsoft will go chasing and/or invalidate your license (along with the thousands of others) and tbh i'll be surprised if anything comes of it.

Edit - And Google Music/iTunes Match is no different. Both have T&Cs stating that uploaded music must have been legally obtained and/or purchased.

How would Microsoft know I didn't buy a new machine in the last 2 months and didn't have a legit copy of windows 7?

Microsoft won't come after you but equally your license is no more valid than someone who has obtained a keygen and used that.
