Alonso will win at Silverstone, can see Kimi doing pretty well too, its quite hard on tyres. Obviously thats based on a dry race, never a given here

Not a bad Grand Prix tbh, can't fault Vettel - he was obviously wringing that car out to kiss that wall a couple of times and even overshoot T1 quite significantly, so can't begrudge him the win really.

Shame Lewis couldn't hold onto 2nd, but still a massive improvement over the deg they had earlier in the season... though this is a stop/go circuit and the Merc never really struggled with traction, it was more sweeping high speed corners.

Silverstone should be hard for them, so hopefully they'll keep on top of the rubber there.

Just read in-season testing to return in 2014 - thank fuck. If budgets/spending are kept on top of, I really can't see a down-side. It gives the order more chance of a mid season mix up, right now if you open the season with a BGP-1 or a RB7 or whatever, you're going to walk it... at least with testing it gives the other contenders half a chance.

The people who can't afford mid season testing couldn't afford to win anyway, so it's irrelevant

Testgate today. FIA say Merc didnt get permission from them, Merc say it was a Pirelli test, so they can set whatever parametres they want.

I'd love to see Merc get banned for the rest of the season. Then watch that twat Hamilton whoring himself around other teams.

So they got away with it. Even if they can't complete in the young drivers they have only lost just as much running time and they got it earlier in the season.

Yep, decision has been made to "cancel out" any advantage gained by taking away "testing time" at the young driver test.

Was a load of bollocks anyway. Right outcome

Pathetic waste of time. If the rules weren't so confusing then there'd be no problem.

Also, if red bull and ferrari had been given the testing time, I very much doubt they'd have turned it down.

Cant wait until these tyres rules are scrapped then we can get back to racing as fast as they can rather then saving tyres, or just driving for the jolly holding everyone else up over tyre strategies ala Monaco this year!

It's bollocks, the YDT should now be turned into a proper test for the teams to run proper drivers, as Merc have done.

Great decision. Suppose a ban was Mclaren fans only hope of finishing in the top 5 in the constructors this year, can see why they are a bit bitter

So here is the first sound clip of a 2014 Renault Formula 1 Engine......Can't say I'm overly impressed really! Bring back those screaming V10s!

Hmm I don't think it sounds too bad tbh.

I'm kinda looking forward to that extra channel of development, the current engine freeze seems like it's been going for decades!

I miss the days of "oh, this is a Mercedes' track" and stuff like that, the current engines don't seem to have much in them, if anything anymore.

Sounds alright. It's also the logical choice, given that many manufacturers are now putting downsized turbocharged engines in their vehicles.

I will miss the scream of the engines, but the blow off sound and bassy low down noise sounds decent.

Agree with kyle aswell, the current engines are at the pinnacle of what they can do. Changing the engine adds a new dimension and also starts another research and development race.
