Corsas and Saxos just under £2000 a year, then your next sentence says £5000 quotes on a Corsa

because at your age millions of corsa's have no doubt been crashed making them higher risk in your age gap for insurance companies, supra's and that at your age have probably only had hundreds crashed if that making them a much lower risk car if that makes sense

You need to realise at 19 £300ish a month for car insurance is ludacris on anything, regardless of the engine size.

I'd be surprised if the companies giving you these quotes on Supras and such actually would insure you if you tried to take out a policy, have mates who have tried getting insurance on bigger engined cars the same age as you and either get turned down due to lack of experience with the type of car or just claim there was a 'glitch' with the website then give you an adjusted expensive price.

I had a 3.0 Omega Elite at 19, cost me £980 a year, had a Clio sport at 21 cost me £700 a year. Trust me £300 a month is hefty.

The insurance quote looks at load of variables, age of driver, age of car, ncb, location....but also the statistics for the model. I.e. if a car is desirable (nickable), amount of crashes, average age of driver etc etc

So when you quote on a Corsa B, its old, and the.majority of drivers are young guys, prone to accidents. All these factors make it expensive to insure.

The 3ltr Omega above probably has an average driver age of 45, statistically used as motorway mile munchers and not being ragged and less accidents.

I'm 23, and can insure a nearly new 2ltr Lancer for 600, whereas a 13 year old 1.6 primera 750. Insurance is odd.

Insurance doesn't always get more expensive, the bigger the engine is.

A 2.0 diesel renault scenic will more than likely be cheaper to insure than a 1.2 corsa.

After a few issue's as of late, ive now came to the conclusion that insurance companies just make the prices up.

1st case was when i called up to change from a Mk4 Astra SRi 1.8, to a 307 HDi. It went up on the basis that it was a bigger engine (but still a much lower insurance group and less power etc).

2nd was going from the Astra Coupe 1.8 to a2003 Fiat Punto Active Sport. The insurance went up on the basis it was a newer car. Really?? New car can affect it that much over the fact it was less than half the insurance group, much smaller engine, with alot less power.

And last week, while on the phone trying to take out a policy on a Corsa C SXi, with me doing it online, over him doing it on his computer, i was able to get it over £300 cheaper by doing it myself on the computer.
