Said to my dad when I got it home, drove there in the vxr and home in the bmw and for a car with more than twice the miles and a good few years older it has less creaks and rattles and just feels a much nicer place to be

spotted a set of style 32's for sale on BMWForums for a decent price so snapped them up





fitted with Tyres (Front x2) Hankook Evo V12's 235/40/17and (Rear x2) Yokohama Advans AD08's 235/40/17

was looking at going to AD08's so i'll see how these are looking for wear and probably swap the hankooks to yokos, just need to get my astra wheels shifted now so i have space for them

Gutted, I was looking at buying them wheels off bimmerforums

The flywheel on these are huge dual mass jobbies, Mines running the 1.8 flywheel and can notice a massive difference between the two.

Yeah I've heard it makes a big difference, the previous owner fitted a new clutch and dmf a couple of months ago so it will be an upgrade when needed

Robin - with the 330 carriers they do, got some pics now

you can see the difference in how much of the backplate is showing behind the disc, the pics actually make it look like they are the same size

rear wheel just sat on the front to see



still not back on the road yet, already replaced one brake line on the front and then found one of the rear lines needing replaced so just ordered a flaring tool and some fittings, line etc to make my own

also painted the back of the pads black and ended up hameriting the calipers and found out it has bilstein shocks fitted

If it's got traction control get rid of it as the TC throttle body is smaller than the main one.
Also it won't have an LSD unless someone put it on as bmw couldn't make the traction control work with it.

No LSD fitted, something for the future then, will need to keep an eye out for a bargain

New brake pipe fitted, car tested and the brakes are great!

Just a small update for tonight, gear knob was tatty so bought another one


For reading about weighted gear knobs but the price was putting me off so I got 45 mins in work with nothing to do so had a go at making one


This one weighs about 350g as opposed to the other one being around 90g and makes the gear change feel much less notchy
Not done there though, going to have a go at something a little heavier, looking to get around 500g and ball shaped

Put the track wheels on and went for a run down the back roads, even in the wet the car felt well balanced and composed, can't wait to get the coilovers and bushes ordered

Not very clean but a pic anyway

But seriously how fucking shit do those front indicaters look? Look like someones made them from some old lexus lights or something..

That said the ambers on the one you posted up top look amazing

I reckon getting the car set up for track abuse first is more important than changing some headlights/indicators to make it look good!

How do the E46 brakes compare to the E36 ones?

I'm not fussed for the indicators, would prefer the Amber's but its not a priority really

The 330 brakes are pretty good brakes and the car stops well, has a lot of braking power now
Much better than the standard set up
