Easy out the only way to do it? If so, can anyone recommend a decent set that won't snap? Spoke to a bloke in work and he said the ones we have here are rubbish quality and snap so obviously no good.

That. Or if you can get a dremel to the top of it cut a slot and get a large flat head screwdriver and grips on it

I snapped a cheap locking one years ago on my 1st corsa.

Drilled into it, chapped a T40 socket into it and got it out that way.

You may get enough thread exposed by removing the disc as well if you havent already.

Huge great godly muscles

Will have another look when I get home.

Would it be worth going to a garage or will they just say I need a new hub? Probably charge a fortune aswell.

Doubt you would do it with an easy out TBH there shit. Either take disk off and weld something to it or drill it

welding will be a good bet - the heat build up and cooling will break any corrosion in there and the stud will very very slightly shrink when it's cooled. i've got loads of stuff out in this way.

A decent local garage should do it ok without telling you that you need a new hub.
Or try and engineering place

^^ 2nd that.

Ben you don't seem the type that would get stuck into it and try various things to remove it so just stick it into an engineering place and pay the £15-£20 for them to remove it.

I swear on my hubs (not sure if BMW are the same), but you remove them when doing a wheel bearing and the threaded hole goes all the way through.

Might be of some help you could push it all the way through, probably some ABS bits in the way while its on the car though.

i'd be tempted to leave it until the wheel bearing needs doing

As said, weld something onto it and get it off that way or drill a small hole into it and smack a torx into it with a hammer and get it off that way.

If it has snapped clean with the disc then removing disc will give you plenty of bolt length.

If anything it'd be the hub expanding around the bolt/ stud rather than the bolt shrinking due to heat - the only way you could get the bolt to shrink would be by freezing it.

Archie's method sound like the best so far tbh

I've never had it happen before hence the thread asking about it.

15-20 quid would be fine. I was expecting they'd want an hours labour for it.

How much is a new hub? When I hit a curb in an old car, I bent the front shock and the garage said I was lucky as a hub is more expensive.
