I'm currently rebuilding an X16XEL for my astra so far I have:

dBilas throttle bodies
Piper ultimate road cams
Dastek unichip Q

And a full rebuild kit inc main bearings, piston rings the lot.

I plan to port the head and give it a bit of a skim.

Hoping for 130bhp+ eventually

I agree with Jedward on this one. My old x16 had dbilas inlet, p+p head, reprofiled cams, manifold and decat back. Was 135 and sat side by side with my mates tigra XE. Corsa just had two bucket seats.

that sounds like a good little build your doing there andy

i never said i was putting 20xe in. Im keeping 1600 if you read last comment, i meant for the money side of things of what you spend you can see why its apealing to go down that route.

sounds canny that andy decent power through them mods. i got a breaker bar off one my mates today and im taking the head off my c16 engine tomorow going to port and polish head on it

I had a look at the SBD site an u could really become poor pretty quick

Would luv a set of throttle boddies.

I'm currently building a Liquid Yellow corsa sport and keeping the x16 in it, So far i have a 4branch,Powerbox, Panel filter, p+p head with reprofiled cams. No idea what its running because the engines not in the car yet Eventually i would luv to get near the 200bhp mark with the 16xe. Going to need REALLY big pockets lol

Dont want to go down the 20xe route, Like being different

Keep us updated on how you get on

I'm doing the 1.6 in my astra because everyone just throws in an XE. It's good to be different sometimes!

Its not easy getting 200 bhp out of a 1600 but it is possible with a few quid and speaking to the right man.
Having built my first engine on Jenvey tbs and a ss exhaust system we had around 150, then we went to Cat Cams and made 172 bhp. At this point i decided to get a proper engine built so went to Bill Falconer with the same exhaust and Jenvey's and using Bill's clubman kit we made 208bhp at 7800 rpm. This was great and i was a happy bunny but as always decided we needed a bit more rpm and power so im now running a full spec motor with around 225 bhp at 8800 rpm.
I sold my clubman engine to a lad in Wales who fitted it to his MK2 escort on carbs which was dynoed about 3 weeks ago showing 192bhp at 7500 rpm so it does what it syas on the tin.
The reason im posting on here is because so many people spend money on cams etc that dont produce what they say (SBD inc) so i have the T shirt i know what im talking about and the best advice i can give you is dont spend money on anything until you decide how much are you going to spend and what power do you want?

l6tbm i know what u mean 200bhp would be alot ive saw someone selling a x16 engine out a rally car with that power for 5k so you can imagine how deep pockets u need to build it

its always good to be diifrent

thanks rallycorsa i wouldnt be aiming at 200bhp myself id be happy with around 140-150bhp. thanks for the advice do you have a build thread or anything? wouldnt mind reading it.

I'm aiming for 150bhp personally. It's going to be a daily driver so can't be too silly on fuel or do harsh to drive lol

Bill does a pair of cams that you can use on hydraulic lifters and standard injection which will give you around 140, defo worth a chat with Bill.
