Temporary wooden supports are out and the first of the fish are in

On a more serious note, the pipework between the sump and the tank is now all in place so we are starting to see the end of the project finally!

Jesus didn't realise quite how big a project this was, the pipes running to the filtration system?

It's going to look fantastic. I have to admit I don't like fish tanks that much as it's hard to put them in a house somewhere where they 'fit' in... but I would have one like this

Its going to the garage, with another tank of a similar size in it which is the sump.

Impressive build which ive been watching since the start. Great to see it coming along nicely matt.

Im struggling with building mine at the min, so much stuff is needed and stuff is so so expensive.

I reckon matts tanks pipe work holds more than the 200ish ltrs my whole system is going to be lol

Yeah the pipes are all for the sump that is out in the garage, which is 8' long, 2' side and 2' high and holds around 1,000 litres of water. The 1.5" pipe carries the clean water from the sump to the tank in the house and the 3" drain pipe carries the dirty water from the tank back to the sump.
The tank has been drilled with 3 1.5" holes on the back pane of glass against the wall and one of those will be for the return pump and two for the drains (each to connected to one of two standpipes on the weir side of the tank) which will then go into a manifold on the outside of the wall and that then goes into the 3" pipe.

Cheers Dan :-D Can't wait to get it finished now - Matt from Southwest Marines in Bristol is coming up tomorrow to do a bit more of the pipework in preparation for the fill on Thursday, and he will also be designing the rock work (using the new Reef Rods and lots of plating live rock) on Thurs too. He said he needs the tank to be dry to do the rock work but the live rock needs to be kept warm, salty and wet again within a few hours of it being taken out of the water so we are still trying to find a way to fill the tank up as quickly as possible after the rockwork is done. So far there's about 800 litres of water in the sump that is ready to go in the tank, I've got a 100 litre bucket that I use for water changes on the current tank so that will be filled this evening and then emptied into 4x 25l jerry cans that I have, and then filled again ready to go in the tank. We are also going to use the bath in the main bathroom upstairs to prepare another 250 ish litres, so that should be enough to fill up the tank about 3/4 of the way. I've already filled the pipes with salted RO water ready for the fill, and the trench has been filled with almost £300 worth of expanding foam for insulation

Hopefully the RO filter will be enough to allow me to make up the rest of the water that day so we can get it all hooked up and flowing properly before I go away for the weekend. I will update this thread again in a couple of days with hopefully a tank full of water!

Yeah I only moved in to the house in April and it's a lovely house in a fantastic location so I can see me staying there for the foreseeable future (until I have enough money to build by dream home somewhere!). This is the house;

The room at the front right is the lounge so the tank is on the left hand side of that.

This is the view from the back of the house and the patio doors lead into the dining room which is on the other side of the tank.

and lastly here is the garage where the sump is located, and the pipework will be going through the wall towards the left hand side of the garage.
