yesterday i decided to quickly clean up the engine bay.

used some stuff called 'GUNK' from halfords, a watering can, a small brush and a microfibre cloth.

nothing special, but it was covered in dirt and oil before so looks nice and clean now.

haven't done much to the car recently, but thought i'd get a couple of pics that aren't with the car on my driveway

only things i want to do now are get some hubcentric spacers on the rear and maybe eibach springs just to bring the wheels into the arches a little.

going to just enjoy driving it over summer and it's due an insp 2 service so need to get that done.

i like the roof, makes it stand out from every over grey z4. looks good when it's wet aswell. i might try and go over the alloys with some gloss black.

certainly don't want to go spending £200 on a refurb when they only need a repaint.

we only build engines at work, no ford vehicle manufacturing anymore (unless you thought i worked at a ford dealers?)

could spray them with oil/diesel, wouldn't give the same effect though

Saw an identical one to yours the other day but the wheels were silver. looked miles better than black.
Actually also now prefer the front indicators being orange. makes it a tad more moody lol with the grilles being all black/carbon

black is easier to keep looking clean though but you're right, they do look better in a lighter colour.

i also prefer the headlight orange bits now. i have a clear headlight in my garage, need to source another then will see how they look.

I thought they made the while cars, not just engines.

Black wheels are not easy to keep clean, mine always look manky, I hate them

Apart from painting the wheels silver i wouldnt change a thing on that now. The front end looks very nice, didnt realise it had the M bumper, the rear lights were worth doing aswell.

Not meaning to go on about your wheels incase you go all Steve and delete the thread, but if there is no kerbing any decent powdercoaters will just shot blast and powdercoat for alot cheaper than a wheel refurb place. I agree I wouldn't want to pay out simply for a colour change if there's no marks on the wheels, so maybe you could do that if you did want to change the colour.

It looks lovely though. Even though it's now 9 years old I still look at is as nice and modern looking

i'm not one to rage delete so I don't mind that does sound like a good option, may think about that.

It does need taxing in july and a near £400 service so for now, all mods are on hold

Not sure but insp 1 is the oil service which is the cheap one, then insp 2 is more involved.

Rip off really, will get some indy quotes first and see if theyre cheaper.

Need the stamp though. By the looks of it, bmw owners/purchasers seem to be really anal about that. They dont seem to want to touch cars that havent been serviced by a professional.
