made a start on finding out why i keep losing all my screenwash in a couple of days, today.

had to remove the front bumper to access the headlight washer pumps and all hoses.





theres a crappy pipe coming from the screenwash bottle pump which takes the water to the headlight washer pumps. this pipe seems to be leaking.



also, my headlight washers do raise up as if to clean the lights, but no water comes out of them.

so i'm guessing that's 2 knackered pumps and 1 knackered washer jet hose.

also had a metal bar that sits over the bumper bolt holes, which had some surface rust on. so gave that a quick going over with some matte black, looks much neater now.

Did you get the geometry sorted after lowering the car. Best get it sorted otherwise you'll get uneven wear.

Elite down the road from you have a Hunters machine and can do the alighnment.

getting that done this week fad, as elite is next to my work, so can pop in when i finish.

only thing i'm worried about is whether having that one snapped wheel bolt will affect anything? i don't really want them to try and get it out as they'll just say it needs a new hub, most likely.

tyres seem ok at the moment as i checked them on sunday. but i remember 2 weeks after lowering my focus i had bald insides on the front tyres expensive mistake.

They dont have to take the wheels off. I had mine done there previously and all the control arms are adjustable (well they were on my E90) One of aluminium adjustable bolts was seized and they replaced it with an OEM one for £12.00 which I thought was fair enough.

cheers fad. might go in after work tomorrow and get it done for peace of mind. it does have quite a bit of neg camber on the rear.

fad, in short - yes it is i scraped the bottom of the bumper when driving out of work today, not even on a speedhump, just a bumpy road

just need to drive accordingly. i do feel sorry for people behind who want to drive at 30mph over speedhumps, but they can always overtake me if they wish.

doubt its the pumps that are knackered as the water pressure is what makes them "pop" up.I had a similar problem with mine on my skoda and eventually sorted it by using a thinner diameter from the pump to the washer units so it upped the pressure enough to make them spray. You can also bodge it with cable ties along the length of the pipe too.

water was leaking from the bottom of the o/s pump where the hose connects to (although the hose wasn't leaking, it was further up.

forgot to take a pic though, would explain it a lot easier.

Mine used to lose all it's screen wash through a leak on the headlight washers

Pretty sure the ones on the TT don't work either

True. I actually hate them because the fluid just gets sprayed all over the front end, which in turn leaves water marks.

But, I want to put aftermarket hid's in, so they are needed for MOT purposes

made a start on putting the clear headlight back together.

i decided i didn't like the orange-ness coming through the clear headlight when the indicators aren't on, so bought some mirror tint film:



to wrap these orange domes, which sit on top of the indicator bulb:



bit of a fiddly job, and the rounded end made it impossible to use one piece.

finished:



clear surround fitted:



and they still shine orange when held up to light:

i thought about doing that, but the bulbs aren't wedge bulbs, they're rounded at the base (BAY9S is the name of them), an finding chrome ones in this fitment is proving impossible

Loads of BAY9S fitment amber LED's on eBay. Not that i matters now, but it's definitely possible.

i did have a look at those balling, but i'm unsure whether they will fit through the hole in the rear where the standard bulb fit's in, as the led ones look wider

went into halfords trying to find sterling grey pearlescent spray paint, but they don't stock it

ended up buying a can of 'ford nimbus grey' which seems like a close colour match to the car.

will see how it comes out and post pics up.
