Credit cards a a very sensible way to spend money, even make some of it back, unless you are a cretin.

Exactly, the £800 or so which I put on my cards each month earns a nice bit of cash back.

We have the Halifax clarity card, not necessarily cashback but it is £5 a month which is pretty decent on a £300 minimum spend (which is easily done when used just for food shopping and diesel ).

We cant get the proper cashback cards because we live oop north so earn pennies

Capital one card I have was about the best outside of american express and I don't have a portfolio manager.

I applied for that a while back (might even have been when they were Egg?) and got rejected, that was before I was mortgaged to the hilt though, seem to throw loans at me now
