If you lower the voltage it just draws more current.

of course it does hence why it depends on application etc

Theres a similar house advertised for £10k more on the same road, both need some decor & are pretty much identical. Id try a cheeky offer on the one thats not got 1.2 gigawatts running through the rear path.

His free volts thing is rubbish, I was just curious about the step down, I think someone posted on here about it before.

Dont think there is a regulation on how far it has to be from your house, aslong as the owners have access to it at all times and that its properly secured for health and safety reasons.

also

Transformers in substations are constructed using the highly toxic chemicals called Polychlorinated Biphenyls

Plus the further you live from a substation the greater the voltage between N and true Earth, so free power.

I currently get 3volts for free

[Edited on 19-01-2012 by Chris]

And how is that good unless it's within limits. Supplying more power increases heat and reduces life cycle Of a product. You also consume more energy because of this

Your better stepping down the voltage rather than having more voltage. It may look free but your paying for t in loss of thermal efficiency and putting more load on your household products

Can send you loads of info of you like

I am aware that lower grid voltage infact increase your costing as you need more of it to work, as over voltage would also give cheaper power usage.

Not fully upto speed on the 17th regs
